About me
My name is João Parente, I live in Portugal and I have an engineering physics background.
This website serves as a way to document and expose all the small and big projects I make. Maybe one of these projects might help someone in need.
I have a lot of hobbies (maybe even too many hobbies) that go from music to restoration of tools to obscure software.
In this website I will only focus two of them: Linux and retro computing (for now).
My interest for Linux is the oldest, it started when I was 16 and a friend of mine only used it and I thought to myself "If he uses Linux then it must be good" so I tried it. Got choice paralysis just choosing the distro and quitted. Years later I got tired of windows doing choices for me and decided to try Linux again, this time with help, so I installed Debian with KDE and bit by bit fell in love with the control you can have of your system.
For retro computing, what makes me love it how in the old days engineers took a simple concept and just pushed it to the extreme to do things some people could only dream of. For example, spinning hard drives. That might also explain my admiration for micro-controllers.
